AI chatbot for ecommerce stores.
An online store's inbox fills with the same questions: will it arrive by Friday if I order today, will I pay customs in Canada, do you take Klarna, and why won't my code work. A chatbot trained on your shipping, payment and FAQ pages answers those while the cart is still open, and hands anything about a specific order to you with the order number and email already collected.

Visitor: If I order before lunch, does it ship today?
Chatbot: Orders placed before 1 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday, ship the same day. Orders after that, or on weekends, ship the next business day. Standard US shipping takes 3 to 5 business days after dispatch, and it's free on orders over $45.
Shipping policy
Visitor: Do you ship to the UK? Will I pay anything on delivery?
Chatbot: Yes, we ship to the UK for a flat $18, usually in 7 to 12 business days. Our prices don't include import duties or taxes, so the carrier may collect them on delivery. The amount depends on your order value and UK rules, so we can't quote it in advance.
International shipping page
Visitor: My order #4182 says delivered but it isn't here.
Chatbot: I'm sorry about that. I can't see order details, so I'll pass this to our team. Carriers sometimes mark parcels delivered a little early, so it's worth checking with neighbors and your building first. Then leave the email you ordered with and your order number here, and someone will open a claim with the carrier and reply within one business day.

Set it up in four steps
- 1
Point it at your website
Enter your site's address and ChatBento reads your pages. For ecommerce stores, make sure these are on the site or added as docs:
- Shipping policy: dispatch cut-off times, carriers and delivery estimates by zone
- International shipping page: countries you ship to, duties and taxes, and who pays them
- Refund and return policy, including what can't be sent back
- Product pages with ingredients, dimensions or compatibility written as text
- FAQ covering payment methods, discount code rules and gift cards
- Subscription, wholesale and restock-notification pages
- 2
Answer the 12 questions
Copy the questions above, paste them into ChatBento as Q&As and write your answers. These are what visitors ask first, so a clear answer here covers most chats.
- 3
Set the greeting and handoff
Add the email that receives handoffs and a greeting that sets expectations, for example: “Hi! Ask me about shipping times, delivery to your country, payment options or restocks.”
- 4
Paste one line on your Shopify site
Many independent online stores run on Shopify, where the chatbot goes into the theme once and shows on every storefront page. The install guide shows where the snippet goes.

What it answers, and what it hands to you
Hand these to a person
The chatbot collects the visitor's name and email or phone, then sends you the whole conversation.
- Where is my order, lost parcels and delivered-but-not-received claims: the chatbot links your order status page and collects the order number and email
- Changing or cancelling an order, or its shipping address, after checkout
- Refund requests, damaged or wrong items, and any exception to your policy
- Failed payments, double charges and chargebacks
- Wholesale and bulk orders beyond your published terms
Your policies are promises: quote them, never improvise
The chatbot answers shipping, return and warranty questions only from your policy pages, and never invents an exception, a free return or a discount code. In 2024 a Canadian tribunal held Air Canada to a bereavement refund policy its website chatbot made up, and rejected the idea that the bot was responsible for its own words. Ingredient, allergen, safety and material claims should come only from your product pages, so keep them accurate and have the bot hand off anything they don't cover.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. ChatBento answers only from the content you give it, and says so when it doesn't know.
Which plan fits ecommerce stores
Typical volume: 1,500 to 4,800 AI replies a month. An online store doing a few hundred orders a month with 20,000 to 40,000 site visits, where 2.5 to 4% of visitors open the chat and ask about three questions each.
Start on the Free plan (50 messages a month) to try it, then move up when the chat gets busy.
Ecommerce stores questions. Answered.
Can the chatbot tell customers where their order is?
No. It doesn't connect to your store's order system, so it can't see a specific order. It points shoppers to the tracking link in their shipping email and your order status page, and if that doesn't help, collects the order number and email so you can reply from your inbox.
Will it know when a product is back in stock?
It knows what your pages said when it last read them, not live inventory. Keep a restock Q&A current for popular items, point shoppers to your back-in-stock signup if you have one, and let the bot hand off the rest.
Can it give out discount codes?
Only codes you've published on your site or added as a Q&A. If someone asks for a discount you don't offer, it says so plainly instead of making one up. Remove expired promotions from what it reads, or it will keep quoting them.
How does it handle questions from international shoppers?
It answers from your international shipping page: which countries you ship to, rates, delivery times and whether duties are included. If a country isn't listed, write that down too, so the bot says no instead of guessing.
