Greeting message
Also called Welcome message, Chatbot greeting
A greeting message is the first message a chatbot shows when a visitor opens the chat window, before they type anything. It tells visitors what the chatbot can help with and invites a first question. Specific, useful greetings get more replies than a generic "How can I help?".
Example
"Hi! I can answer questions about delivery, sizing and returns. What are you looking for?"
Why it matters for a website chatbot
The greeting sets expectations and gets the first question asked. In ChatBento you write your own greeting of up to 400 characters, and can pair it with up to four suggested questions.

- Quick repliesQuick replies are clickable buttons in a chat window that offer ready-made questions or answers, so users can tap instead of typing. They're used to start conversations, guide people toward common topics and make chat easier on mobile. Users can usually still type their own message instead.
- Chat widgetA chat widget is the small interface embedded on a website, usually a round button in a bottom corner, that opens a chat window when clicked. It connects visitors to a chatbot, live agents or both, and is normally added to a site with a short JavaScript snippet or a platform plugin.
- AI disclosureAI disclosure means telling people when they are interacting with an AI system rather than a human. Laws increasingly require it: Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires providers to design AI systems that interact with people so that users are informed, unless it's obvious, with obligations applying from August 2, 2026.
